Reception to the film ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ was mixed, in part because of its controversial subject matter, but also because of the performances put in by its two lead actors.
For instance, Dakota Johnson was singled out by critics for failing to bring much life to the character of Anastasia Steele – which is a pretty big problem given that she’s the character the film is focused around. Critics felt that Johnson was generally flat and lifeless throughout the film – not exactly a ringing endorsement.
