Typecasting can be a very difficult thing for actors to overcome, with audiences often reacting negatively when they try to move past the type of character that made them famous. This was the case for Ashton Kutcher when he appeared in ‘Jobs’, a biopic about the well-known tech legend.
Audiences were used to seeing Kutcher appear as hapless and goofy comedic characters – a’la ‘That 70s Show’ and ‘Dude, Where’s My Car?’ – and as such reacted poorly to his work in a serious role.
