Jack Black is well-known to and well-loved by audiences for his roles in comedic films – which makes moving into dramatic roles somewhat difficult for him, as people have a very specific image of him.
For instance, in the 2005 adaptation of ‘King Kong’, Black plays Carl Denham, a movie director who is obsessed with the idea of capturing footage of Kong. Although critics recognized his efforts, they felt that Jack Black was simply not quite able to reach the necessary dramatic pitches in the film.
