The ‘Godfather’ series of movies is perhaps the only one that outdoes ‘Star Wars’ in terms of having films that people both love and loathe. While the first two films in the series are regarded as cinematic masterpieces, the third is often reviled by critics and fans of the franchise.
Criticism is often directed toward the casting of Sofia Coppola as Mary Corleone. Many felt that this was nepotism on the part of director Francis Ford Coppola, and that her performance brings the quality of the film down sharply.
