It’s a very difficult thing to do as an actor to take on a role that’s already been made beloved by another performer. This is what Michael Gambon had to do, when he took on the role of Professor Dumbledore in the ‘Harry Potter’ series after the veteran actor Richard Harris had passed away.
While some fans were perfectly happy with the choice, there were others who felt that Gambon brought too forceful an energy to a role that Harris had played with such restraint.
