Once again, we find ourselves faced with a case of severe misjudgment. The 1956 film ‘The Conqueror’ is widely regarded by critics to be one of the worst films of all time, and it was also a major box-office bomb.
Alongside questions of quality, in recent years, more criticism has been leveled at the decision to cast John Wayne in the role of Genghis Khan. It was felt that casting Wayne instead of an actor that was actually from Mongolia was insulting and damaging to the believability of the film.
