Given how beloved ‘The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy’ radio serials and books were, the film adaptation was quite a big gamble – one that fans of the series and critics seemed to feel hadn’t paid off.
The casting of Zooey Deschanel as Trillian was a decision that was widely criticized – as true-blue fans of the series were of the opinion that her more light and breezy demeanor and style of delivery meant that she wasn’t really able to land the more deadpan notes in the humor.
