The action sci-fi ‘Battleship’ was not well-received by critics, coming under fire for inadequacies with its plot and writing, but also its casting. One of the choices that was subject to the most criticism was that of the singer Rihanna as Petty Officer Cora Raikes.
Critics felt that Rihanna was simply too new to acting to put in a good performance – a situation that they felt was made worse by the fact that she was not given very good material to work with.
