In fact, Pat and Steve wanted their son to be as comfortable with his life as possible. They didn’t want him to feel uncomfortable about asking any questions, and they wanted him to be fully on board with the fact that they adopted him.
Every year, they celebrated their “Came To Be Our Boy Day,” where they celebrated the day that they signed his adoption papers. Their ability to stay open-minded about his decisions helped them get to grips with the fact that Steve eventually decided to search for more information about his past.
