Home Improvement was a highly rated sitcom that aired from 1991 to 1999. It was written for Tim Allen, partially based on his stand-up comedy, and also an homage to the home construction show This Old House.
Actors Allen and Richard Karn, who played Tim Taylor and Al Borland, would work off one another during the show-within-a-show called Tool Time. What you don’t expect to see, however, is the master comedian Allen having to reference a script while filming. He just seemed like a comedy natural.
