We just love this photo so much, because it completely goes against anything that has ever happened on the show where it was taken. This is, of course, a behind the scenes photo from The Handmaid’s Tale, which depicts dystopian life in the Republic of Gilead, which replaced the United States after a civil war.
In this new reality, female Handmaids – characterized by their red dresses and white bonnets as seen here – are slaves. It’s all pretty dark and brutal, so we’re actually glad the actresses could utilize a sunny break in shooting to take a nap and escape a little.
