When this person left their house that morning, after telling their partner they were bringing home the bacon, we’re not sure this was what they had in mind. Bringing home the bacon means to make a living and achieve financial support for your family at home.
It doesn’t mean bringing home canned bacon that comes out looking like a congealed mess. If the word congealed is used to describe a food, then you know it’s not going to be pleasant.
