This photo is part of a photoshoot Nirvana did in 1993 – the seminal grunge band’s last-ever shoot together, in fact. Roughly five months later, on April 5, 1994, frontman Kurt Cobain would pass away as a result of a gunshot wound at his Seattle home.
Even today, nearly 30 years later, it’s still hotly debated whether he took his own life or, as some believe, foul play was involved. A member of the notorious “27 club,” an autopsy showed Cobain’s body had high levels of various substances, both legal and otherwise, and he had a troubled history of both substance abuse and depression.
