The struggles faced by quarterback Finn Hudson in trying to balance being a member of the glee club with being a popular jock were dwarfed by the ones the man who portrayed him, Cory Monteith, faced. Wrestling with substance abuse since he was 13, Monteith spent the remainder of his too-short life battling his personal demons.
He passed away on July 13, 2013, in a Vancouver hotel room, aged 31, as a result of a lethal dose of illicit substances. This photo was shared by his agent. Taken two days prior while they had dinner in the city’s East of Main Café, Monteith made it his Twitter profile picture.
