One of my co-workers asked for time off because his son had just passed away. He had already missed a lot of days for doctor’s appointments, and now he needed time off for the funeral.
Our office manager wasn’t buying it though, and called the funeral home. They said they never heard of the guy, so our manager tracked down the child’s mother, who confirmed that the boy was very much alive. When he was confronted, the guy confessed that he was at a detox center for illegal substances.
