John Carpenter’s ‘Halloween’ in 1978 is the reason we saw a mass surge of knife-wielding and teenage-slaughtering slashers throughout the 1980s. It’s often regarded as the ultimate slasher horror movie, setting up the set of cinematic tropes replicated throughout the next decade in movies such as 1981’s ‘Friday the 13th’.
However, some fans have been quick to point out that although it’s supposed to be set in Illinois, there are actually numerous palm trees seen in the background of the street scenes. This is because it was filmed in California.
