‘The Sound of Music’ is one of the most beloved musicals Hollywood has ever produced. At the time of its release in 1965, the film received huge critical acclaim, and it even went on to win five Academy Awards, including Best Picture.
However, not every aspect of the film is entirely correct. In the plot, the Von Trapp family are seen fleeing their home country of Austria to escape the enemies in WW2. The direction they head in is over the Alps, yet this isn’t the way to Switzerland at all – it’s actually the way to Germany!
