Arendelle is based on the real-life Austrian village of Hallstatt. While that doesn’t matter to kids, the residents of Hallstatt wish the adults would forget about them too! Before Frozen, Hallstatt was a tiny lakeside community with just 780 inhabitants. As you can imagine, it was a bit much when tourists from all over the world – up to 10,000 a day – started flooding in. In spite of the increased revenue it’s brought to their village, Hallstatters are more than willing to “let it go” for a little peace and quiet.
