The lack of ethnic diversity in the first film didn’t go unnoticed by critics and audiences. The creators made up for this in Frozen II, where Lt. Mattias is one of the lead characters. And don’t forget about Northuldra, the indigenous people living within the Enchanted Forest. While the Northuldra are a fictional tribe, they’re based on the Sámi people who live in Scandinavia. Like the Northuldra people, the Sámi have a close connection with reindeer, which they use for meat, herding, and transportation.
