With a population of eight-million, Austria has a much smaller military than some of the other countries on this list – with just 20,000 active personnel.
However, despite its size, the Austrian military is still extremely capable, and does have a whopping 900,000 reserve personnel. As a landlocked country, having a navy would be somewhat useless for the Austrian military – and as such it lacks one. It does, however, have 56 tanks and 125 aircraft to hand.
