The military of Vietnam has had a fairly storied history and several different incarnations, as different militaries were established during the split between North and South Vietnam – and were then integrated after the country was reunited in 1976.
Currently, the Vietnamese military has a force consisting of 482,000 members that are active, and 5 million members that are reserve personnel. The military is also well-equipped regarding the matter of military vehicles – with 65 naval vehicles, 289 aircraft, and 1,470 tanks.
