For several decades, South Korea has had a tense relationship with North Korea, resulting in a lot of military investment from each country. As such, South Korea invests heavily in its military, and has one of the largest in the world – with just under 600,000 active members and 3 million reserve members.
The South Korean military is extremely well-equipped and highly-respected internationally. South Korea also works closely with the U.S. military, with the U.S. Army having a dedicated force in South Korea.
