Sweden has a population of 10 million – and its military force is as minimal as might be expected from such a number. The military consists of 22,000 active members and 34,000 reserve members…
A number that was maintained beforehand by conscription, and since 2010 has been maintained by volunteer service. Sweden does not participate in wars very often – in fact, it hasn’t been involved in a war since 1814. As such, its military is focused mostly on peacekeeping operations.
