[post_page_title]Holy ruined illusion, Batman![/post_page_title]
Modern-day fans might look down their noses at the campy, cheesy 1966 Batman television show but guess what, nerds? It saved Batman from getting the ax. In the mid-’60s, Batman’s comic book sales were flagging, and it was teetering dangerously close to cancelation. Then the show came and reignited interest in the character, and the rest was history.
This photo, meanwhile, is more hysterical than historical. It shows one of Batman’s most popular running gags – scaling the side of a Gotham skyscraper. Only it turns out Adam West and Burt Ward were just crouch-walking! Also note how Batman’s cape is pulled back, to complete the illusion.
