In 2019, Sesame Street’s 50th anniversary, there were more than 150 versions of the show produced in 70 languages. Rewinding 50 years to 1969, however, and all we had was one man and his vision. That man was Jim Henson, and he’s responsible for Sesame Street, the Muppets, and countless other childhood favorites. Take Bert and Ernie, for example.
How many millions of people around the world grew up watching them? Well, we bet they’ve never seen them like this. Henson is the man behind Bert, while Ernie’s being operated by Frank Oz. Interestingly, it’s been said the two puppets’ friendship reflected the real-life bond of Henson and Oz.
