More than just one illusion was shattered with this photo. Firstly, it was taken on a private jet, which is not somewhere we ever thought we’d see the friends from Friends. But there’s a more interesting story at play here. It was taken in 1994, just after the show’s pilot episode was taped but before it aired.
Since the six stars didn’t really know each other at the time, Friends’ director James Burrows decided to fly them off to a little Vegas getaway so they could bond. He later recalled telling them some of the most prophetic words ever spoken: “This is your last shot at anonymity.”
