The Walking Dead’s incredible first episode started off with a bang, as both protagonist Rick Grimes and the audience slowly realize that the zombie apocalypse had already happened. All that’s left for Rick to do is to wander through a nearly-deserted Atlanta, fending off “Walkers,” as the show calls zombies, as best he can.
The episode ends with Rick holing himself up in an abandoned tank, as hordes of the undead try to get at him. It was a tense, nail-biter of a moment… that apparently happened while people in shorts, baseball caps, and loud Hawaiian shirts were lounging all around him. Illusion ruined.
