R&B and hip-hop were at their peak back in the late-’90s and 2000s as many rising stars hit the big time, including Lauryn Hill. She might have won a handful of Grammys over the years, but things were about to take a turn for Lauryn.
The star refused to pay her taxes for two years as she claimed that “manipulation” and the “climate of hostility” both affected her creativity. Sadly, her protest against the man landed Lauryn three months of jail time alongside a $554,000 bill from the IRS.
