Melissa Gilbert rose to fame with her part on one of the most popular shows of the day – ‘Little House on the Prairie’. Gilbert played Laura Ingalls Wilder, one of the lead characters, and the one that has arguably stuck in the public consciousness the most.

Gilbert has worked regularly in acting over the years, but has also made forays into other areas. In 2016, she ran for office in Michigan – although she had to drop out eventually due to lingering effects of a 2012 injury.
