The early 20th century sporting world seems so far away – a lost land where the rules of the universe were hammered out and legendary heroes were etched into the firmament above stadiums. One of these heroes was Babe Ruth, regarded as the greatest baseball player of all time.
Ruth was an unstoppable and peerless player, more an incarnation of baseball itself than a man with a bat. He set numerous baseball records, some of which still stand. Ruth can be seen here at the Memorial Hospital, on July 9, 1948.
