[post_page_title]Helen Keller[/post_page_title]
Helen Keller is an example of true achievement, of overcoming adversity to reach true success. Born in 1880, Keller contracted an illness at 19 months old that left her both blind and deaf. She learned to communicate through simple signs, until 1887, when she met Anne Sullivan, a teacher who helped her make a major breakthrough in picking up language.
From there, Keller could not be held back, becoming the first deafblind person to earn a BA, and going on to become an author, lecturer, and activist.
