Phoebe is a character of many skills – including the many languages that she shows of throughout the show. Although she grew up on the streets, it turns out that she still had time to learn new vocabs.
Phoebe shows off her French skills when she tries to teach Joey how to speak the language but later forgets that she knows a word. When she visits Monica at her place of work, she acts like she’s never heard of the word “sous chef” in her entire life. That’s a bit inconsistent.
