In spite of everything he said, and everything that transpired between his parents, Joel clarified that he would always consider Richard to be his real father. Not only that, but he had no desire to start looking for his “real one” – meaning his biological father.
In fact, he doubted that his biological father even knew he or his brothers existed, which is why he was perplexed by Richard’s desire to have him show up again to play a role in their lives.
