Although Harriette always put her husband in his rightful place, Carl still liked to think of himself as the boss of his household. With his great career in the police force, Carl did have a natural sense of authority, but he also had a sweet and vulnerable side to his character, too.
He loved his family very much, but he also had a tendency to wind people up the wrong way, especially their street neighbors. Carl is one of the only characters in the entire show that featured in every single one of the 215 episodes.
