Harry reacted to the statement from Buckingham Palace by expressing “great sadness.” He said that he and his wife had intended to keep on serving the Queen without public funding, but the plan didn’t work out.
He did, however, reiterate his love for the UK; he also said that serving his country and the Queen is “a great honor.” Their decision to step back, according to Harry, came after many years of challenges and many months of talks.
