Working closely with the royals means knowing their secrets. Those who work closest with the royals, like their aides, have to know everything about them to do their jobs properly. That means getting to know a few things that the public would love to hear, but they are sworn to secrecy and will not reveal what they know.
Agreements are signed, and staff face losing their jobs if they don’t keep quiet. This had to be put in place after leaks kept coming out of the palace during the 1980s, and the newspapers were full of what the Royal Family did. Former aides and staff have written books letting everyone know what they learned inside the palace.
