Staff are not allowed to enter the palace through the front door, instead, they must sneak themselves inside around the back. The staff’s entrance is there to ensure people aren’t seen coming in and out of the palace all the time.
It also acts as an added security measure to stop people just wandering up to the main entrance. Critics say it makes the staff seem like lower class people, but that isn’t going to change anything as far as the palace is concerned, and the rule is here to stay.
