Unfortunately for Pam and the racing world, Jim passed away in a car accident in 1977. He was driving his beloved 1972 Corvette when he sped around a corner and right into an oncoming bus on the West Chester Pike.
The accident was devastating, as emergency services spent 45 minutes trying to retrieve Jim’s body from the wreckage. Pam didn’t need reminding about the dangers of racing, but after Jim’s passing, there was no way she was going to race.
