Sometimes it pays to do your homework, and for one game show contestant that’s literally what happened. During 1984 gameshow Press Your Luck, Michael Larson went home a very happy man. He took $254,000 in prize money – the largest sum to have ever been won on the show in a single day. Larson spent a lot of time at home, taping and studying the show until he found what he’d been hoping for – a pattern.
