When I was managing a pawn shop, an employee tried to steal $400 from the register, which was his first mistake, as pawn shops typically have cameras all over the place. His second mistake was trying to burn down the store once he spotted the cameras.
He hurt himself pretty badly in his attempt to cover his tracks, and ended up going to jail right after he was released from the hospital. And yes, we did fire him, though that was the least of his problems.
