We’re at something of a loss for this one. We understand that architecture can be a complex job – but surely you’d take notice before signing off on a blunder this monumental?
It appears that the problem was only noticed when people actually tried to use the escalator – so, a fair while after the troubleshooting period. We bet the wait time in line gets pretty severe up at the top some days. Good athletics practice though, as people have to parkour their way off.
