The story of Knives Out is one of intrigue, a modern mystery in the classical whodunit style. But the real question should be howdidtheydunit? The movie mixes beloved tropes of the genre with a comedic “stab” at the narrative issues common to the style.
A character in the movie even accuses another party of being unable to tell a real knife from a fake movie prop, which comes back in an ironic echo later on in the movie. That makes this hilarious take on the title almost a spoiler for the whole mystery.
