Denny walked over to the soldiers, who recognized him and thanked him again. Denny accepted their thanks, and shocked them once again by handing over to them the $50 he had been given. He stated that, because it would probably take them a little while to reach the base, he wanted them to be able to buy food if they got hungry again.
The soldiers couldn’t believe that someone who had already done something so nice for them was doing so again, thanking him profusely before going on their way.
