Peter immediately carried the young girl to the car. Unfortunately, she wasn’t breathing and had no pulse. To top it off, the young child was covered in ash from the fire, and it looked as though Peter was going to lose her before he even had the chance to step in and help. Thankfully, he knew exactly what to do. Like all police officers, Peter was first aid trained and knew how to perform CPR.
The cop knew that waiting for an ambulance could spell disaster for the youngster as she needed immediate medical attention. In fact, it turned out that one more minute of no action would have been a minute too late. Peter began to perform CPR in the back of the patrol car while his partner stepped into the driving seat and sped to the hospital with the young patient in the back.
