Florida is the stay at home mom that keeps the Evans household in shape. The character starts the show married to James Evans. Unfortunately, her husband is involved in a car crash, and he passes away during season four leaving her a widow.
This is just another task that Florida must undertake as she now not only has to raise her three children single-handedly, but she must also try and support them financially. Florida is a true example that not all superheroes need capes.

Playing Florida Evans was Esther’s most significant role in her career. However, the actress decided to leave Good Times when she felt as though the show was taking a different direction thanks to the character J.J. becoming the lead.
Just before her passing, Esther appeared in the horror show Poltergeist: The Legacy and the drama movie Down in the Delta. Unfortunately, complications with diabetes meant the actress passed away a few days after her 78th birthday.
