Making silly mistakes is a natural part of life – everybody trips over a low hurdle every once in a while. If you’re lucky, nobody will see you do something foolish – and the bruises to your dignity will be minor. If however, you’re unlucky enough to have your blunder witnessed, there’s a chance you’ll never live it down.

You’d be forgiven for thinking that the liquid dripping from the oven is icing – although we’d suggest you rethink the way you make cakes. The sad truth is that what looks like sugary slop is in fact melted plastic. The unfortunate figure responsible for this placed their chopping board in the oven, safe in the knowledge that surely the plastic would not melt.
Unfortunately, the plastic surely did melt – and it got all over the oven. The result of this brave baking attempt left the cook (we use that word loosely) with no dinner, no more chopping board, and an oven full of plastic to clean out.
