Video games that you can play with a group of friends

Some people like to criticize video games because they’re apparently isolating. However, plenty of games these days promote multiplayer experiences, whether that’s in person or over the internet. Things like Fortnite and Overwatch wouldn’t work if you weren’t playing with/against people, and the community helps gamers build friendships with others around the world. Of course, as great as it is to play with your friends online, sometimes you can’t beat going head-to-head with them in person.

Mario Party

Nintendo has been churning out Mario Party games for over two decades now, and it’s very rare that one of these titles disappoints. While each new release might not differ too much, that’s not necessarily a bad thing. After all, the company has a winning formula here.

The Mario Party titles take what people understand about board games and add a few exciting twists. Crazy minigames, opportunities to jump from last to first, and plenty of hilarity ensure that everyone shows off their competitive side. Hopefully, you’ll all still be friends once the game is over, although we can’t assure anything.

Just Dance

What’s the point of going out to the club to dance when you can do it in the safety of your living room? If you’re looking to have a good time but don’t like going out, then something like Just Dance might be exactly what you’re looking for. These games are great for you and your friends to show off some moves without having to be seen in public.

There are hundreds of modern and retro songs to choose from that will help you dab and floss the night away. If you want, you can turn your evening antics into a competition, or simply offer up the dance floor to anyone who needs to let out some energy.

Gang Beasts

If you want a game that is as tough and competitive as it is completely ridiculous, you’ll want to get yourself a copy of Gang Beasts. This bizarre beat’em up game requires you and your friends to fight it out until you’re the last one standing. Of course, controlling your character is easier said than done when you’re playing as a blob with very loose movement.

Anyone who’s ever played Gang Beasts before definitely has an advantage over newbies. However, it doesn’t take long to learn the controls and find exciting ways to best your buddies. Even if you never win a match, though, it’s hard not to have fun with this title. The game is so random and oftentimes brutal that you just find yourself laughing out loud.

Mario Kart

There is perhaps no game better to put on when you’re with friends than Mario Kart. Whether you’re a fan of the first release or you love the latest iteration on Switch, these racer titles are the epitome of fun with friends. Well, so long as you don’t mind losing a few of them along the way, of course.

Part of the joy of Mario Kart is getting angry with your loved ones when they hit you with something out of the blue. It’s incredibly frustrating when you’re stopped from getting the first place finish you rightfully deserve. However, that’s just the motivation you need to keep going and prove you’re the best racer in the room.

Video games are always a great way to pass the time when you’re hanging out with friends, especially if you’re playing one of these titles.
