Unsurprisingly, Doc and Marty’s ingenious plan of dumping Jennifer in an alley backfires almost immediately when she’s discovered by some cops. Then, our gallant heroes stand by as they hear the cops’ plan of taking Jennifer, which they mistake for her 2015 self with “a heck of a good face lift,” back home.
This means they knowingly risked the two versions meeting, despite Doc’s spiel about potential universe-ending ramifications. What’s more, the cops ascertain Jennifer’s identity based on her thumbprint. If they bought a 17-year-old being a 47-year-old based on that, Marty could’ve waltzed over and claimed to be her 47-year-old husband with minimal fuss.
