[post_page_title]Ah, yes, Pepsi Free – a timeless reference![/post_page_title]
When Marty lands in 1955, he goes into Lou’s Café and asks for a Pepsi Free – the über-popular ’80s caffeine-free drink. Interpreting his request to mean he wants a Pepsi at no charge, Lou says if he wants a Pepsi he’ll have to pay for it. It’s a nice little gag to illustrate how times have literally changed.
Except for the fact Pepsi Free was introduced in 1982, three years prior to the movie’s present timeline, so Marty should be well aware that the drink didn’t exist in 1955. Heck, he himself lived most of his life without Pepsi Free being a thing!
