[post_page_title]Sure, let’s name this ravine after that total nut who stole our train[/post_page_title]
In the original 1985 timeline, the gorge near Hill Valley is known as Clayton ravine, while in 1885 it’s known by its original name of Shonash ravine. Apparently, the name’s changed after Clara Clayton falls into it.
However, Marty and Doc’s actions in 1885, which include saving Clara’s life and having it seem like “Clint Eastwood” (Marty’s assumed name) fell into the ravine with the train he hijacked, lead to the name being changed to Eastwood ravine. That’s fine, except it doesn’t explain why Hill Valley’s residents would name anything after a man who was in town for less than a week, and stole and destroyed their train.
